Eating out
Morocco offers a remarkable culinary dishes, featuring an extensive array of dining options. From elegant meals served in five-star hotels to the street vendors food selling fresh bread and kebabs.
There's something for everybody. There are numerous restaurants situated around Jemma El Fna square, serving traditional specialities such as tagine, couscous, bessara soup, and harira soup, alongside a wide assortment of exquisite Moroccan pastries.
Additionally, the freshly squeezed orange juice available from local stalls is delightful, and the variety of Moroccan bread is particularly noteworthy for its flavour and quality.
Shopping
No visit to Marrakech is complete without a little or perhaps a lot of shopping.
The shopkeepers are ready to sell, sell, sell. Part of the joy can be haggling the price before you get to a price that suits you and the shopkeeper. Do haggle hard but remember that he has to make a living to, and let him have a little profit. If there is one rule about haggling, you need to consider the price that you are willing to pay, and start with less than that. Often you might both laugh at the price and even walk away. In the end, you might come to an agreement and both be happy with the price. It can get a little wearing as it may be something you are not used to, but it is part of their culture and part of the fun too.
There are many shops around the souks and good bargains to be found.
It is worth mentioning that Marrakech also has a modern area, known as Guilez. In this area, there are well-known shops, e.g. Louis Vuitton, Zara etc.
What to buy?
Morocco has excellent leather goods, including marquetry, metal work as well as jewellery and pottery
There is also an abundance of spices and oils (e.g. Saffron, Argan oil and Olive oil) to choose from
Night Life
Marrakech undoubtedly emerges as one of the most lively cities after sunset. It serves as a central hub for both residents and tourists, who converge at the Jemma El Fna square to enjoy outdoor performances by street artists and musicians. Furthermore, the prominent western hotels host an array of bars, nightclubs, and discos, while the Hivernage district, not far from Jemma El Fna also offers casinos.
