This is a 5-day/4-night tour

There is an  overnight stay in desert camp plus 3 nights in hotels

This tour will give you an 

extraordinary adventure 

in the Sahara

However, don't underestimate the travel time to get there

You should be prepared to travel around 6 or 7 hours per day

You will travel over the Atlas 

mountains on your way to Merzouga

You can decide on your 

accommodation -  standard or luxury - for 

both the camp, and the hotels 

Overview

DAY 1 

  • Your private transport and driver will pick you up at your hotel
  • This is an early start leaving Marrakech at 7:00 a.m., crossing the High Atlas Mountains by way of Tizi-n-Tichka (alt. 2260m)
  • As this is a private tour, there will be amble opportunities to stop (take photos) along with way and enjoy the panoramic views and Berber villages along the way
  • Lunch will be in Ouarzazate and includes a visit to the Kasbah of Taourirt. This was constructed by Pacha Glaoui in the 19th Century and was one of the richest families at the time
  • You will continue your journey pass villages such as Skoura and Lbour along the way
  • You should arrive at your hotel in Gorges des Dades around 17:00

DAY 2

  • After breakfast, you will visit Gorges des Dades, which is a short journey from you hotel
  • You will then travel towards Tinghir to visit Todra Gorges in time for lunch around 12:00/12:30
  • After lunch you will continue to Merzouga, via Erfoud and Rissani
  • You should arrive in Merzouga at around 17:00
  • You can then take a 1hr/1hr 20 mins camel ride to the desert camp
  • This will be a ride across the sand dunes, reaching the Berber tent in the Sahara for a night in the desert
  • Alternatively, you can travel to the camp by 4x4
  • You should arrive at the camp before the sun sets over the Sahara. A sight to take your breadth away 
  • Dinner will be provided in the dinner tents and you will sleep in tents under the stars

DAY 3 

  • You can get up before dawn to watch the sunrise over the Sahara and then enjoy breakfast
  • After breakfast you will travel in the 4x4 from the camp to join you vehicle to begin the next leg of your journey back to Marrakech
  • You will travel from Merzouga towards Zagora
  • There will be a detour to the small village of Tamgrout, where you will visit the old Quaranic library and pottery quarter of the village
  • You will have lunch on the way or in Zagora
  • Later you will book into your hotel for overnight and a leisurely afternoon to rest
  • Dinner will be provided at your hotel 

DAY 4

  • In the morning after a leisurely breakfast, you will continue your journey via the spleadid Draa Valley and Oasis of Palms just outside Zagora
  • Then travel onto Ouarzazate in time for lunch.
  • There is a visit to the Atlas Film Studios. Many famous movies were shot in this local area, such as Gladiator, Romancing the Stone and Lawrence of Arabia to name but a few
  • Next stop will be a visit to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, which is a UNESCO world heritage site
  • You will spend the night in Ouarzazate in the city itself or just outside if you select luxury accommodation for your trip 
  • Dinner will be provided in the hotel 

DAY 5

  • After breakfast you will leave at around 9:30/10:00to continue your last leg of the journey travelling over the Atlas mountains again and down to Marrakech
  • As before there will be time to stop for photos, a short break and lunch along the way
  • You should arrive back in Marrakech later afternoon

Cost per person

This is an all-inclusive private tour based on sharing a twin/double room - minimum of 2 adults and children 12 years old and over and a maximum of up to 4 adults

Two types of accommodation (see below for further details) are available

Standard accommodation is £515 per person

Luxury accommodation s £625 per person

Children under 12 years old - £270 per child

A small, cosy bedroom with neatly arranged beds and patterned blankets.

There will be a limited range of amenities and services 

Bathing and toilet facilities are commonly shared and no ensuite facilities

Two twin beds with light bedding in a simple, pastel-coloured room.
