Zagora & desert camp

This is a two-day tour with an overnight stay in desert camp

This tour will give you a taste of the Sahara, especially if your time is limited

However, don't underestimate the travel time to get there

The travel time to Zagora is around 6 or 7 hours each way 

You will travel over the Atlas mountains on your way to Zagora 

You can decide on your accommodation, either standard or luxury, at the camp,

Overview

DAY 1 

  • Your private transport and driver will pick you up at your hotel
  • This is an early start Leaving Marrakech at 7:00 a.m., crossing the High Atlas Mountains by way of Tizi-n-Tichka (alt. 2260m)
  • There will be amble opportunities to stop (take photos) along with way and enjoy the panoramic view and Berber villages along the way
  • Lunch will be in Ouarzazate and included a visit to the Kasbah of Taourirt. This was constructed by Pacha Glaoui in the 19th Century
  • You will continue your journey passing village along the way
  • You should arrive in Zagora at around 17:30 and take around an hour camel ride to the desert camp
  • This is a gentle ride across small sand dunes, reaching a Berber Tent for a night in the desert
  • You should arrive at the camp before sunset so that you can enjoy the setting of the sun over the Sahara
  • You can decide on either luxury or standard accommodation at the camp 
  • Dinner will be provided in the main tent and you will also sleep in tents under the stars

DAY 2

  • You will be able to get up before dawn to watch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes and enjoy breakfast
  • After sunrise and breakfast, you will travel in the 4x4 from the camp to meet your vehicle and begin your journey back to Marrakech
  • On your way back to Marrakech you will stop at Ouarzazate for lunch and a visit to the Atlas film studios
  • Many famous movies were shot in the local area, such as Gladiator, Romancing the Stone, Lawrence of Arabia
  • Next will be a stop at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, which is a UNESCO world heritage site
  • You will continue on the last leg of your journey over the Atlas Mountains and down to Marrakech
  • Again there will be stops along the way and the opportunity to take photos
  • You should arrive in Marrakech around 18:30/19:00

Cost per person

This is an all-inclusive private tour based on sharing a twin/double room - minimum of 2 adults and children 12 years old and over and a maximum of up to 4 adult

Two types of accommodation (see below for further details) are available

Standard accommodation is £205 per person

Luxury accommodation s £250 per person

Children under 12 years old - £100 per child

Standard accommodation

This is very comfortable and clean tented rooms

There will be a limited range of amenities and services 

Bathing and toilet facilities are commonly shared and no ensuite facilities

Luxurious bedroom with a large bed, elegant décor, and a plush rug.

Luxury accommodation

This is the finest tented accommodation.  

The camp provides luxury at every level in the Sahara

There are a small number of tents that provide private room with private en suite facilities

The camp provides personalised services, and 

facilities with above standard dining

Before booking and before you go, please read the notes below

 

  • This is a private tour with private transport and driver, providing a guide at your destination
  • It gives you the opportunity to see the countryside outside Marrakech
  • Transportation will be arranged at your convenience for pick up at your hotel or Riad
  • If your Riad is inside the Medina and is not accessible for a vehicle, a meeting point will be agreed a short walk away
  • You will receive pick up details via your WhatsApp or email before the trip
  • Upon return to Marrakech you will be dropped off at or near your hotel/Riad
